THE HISTORY OF THE FRENCH STOVE

In the past, the French heated their homes with wood stoves. These stoves were made of iron and had a classic design with a round door and a narrow chimney.

In the 18th century, the French began experimenting with different designs for wood stoves. They found that they were more efficient when made of cast iron and had a larger door and a wider chimney. This design, known as the “classic French wood stove,” quickly became popular and was often seen as a status symbol.

In the 19th century, these stoves were improved and perfected. Manufacturers began adding different features such as an ash pan and a thermometer to measure the temperature. This made the stoves even more efficient and easier to use.

In the 20th century, the old French wood stoves became less and less popular with the advent of central heating and gas and electric heaters. Many of the old stoves were replaced or lost. But there are still many people who appreciate the charm and warmth of these classic stoves, and many have had them restored or restored.

Today, classic French wood stoves are still produced and used in some areas of France, and are a valuable addition to a traditional home.
